CISM Triathlon

The 17th World Championship Triathlon military ended August 25, 2012.
18 nations were present for the competition held in Lausanne, masterfully organized by our Swiss friends. With the precision that characterizes the Swiss, the organizers made every effort to make the competitions a model of its kind.
The 136 athletes, among them 46 women, competed in the purest tradition of CISM on a beautiful, attractive and well selective course where the athletes’ performance took place.
The swimming contest had two laps of 750 m each on the warm water (24 °) of Lausanne Lake (needless to say the largest lake in Europe), cycling was comprised of eight laps of 5 km each, with a 400-meter slope of 8%, while the running contest was made of five laps of 2 km each. The scenery was well set.
At about 9:30, in a sunny day, which is not really normal, the 46 women launched themselves in a swimming competition dominated by the Chinese athletes and the Brazilian Pamella OLIVEIRA. Very quickly the Brazilian took control of the race, never to leave. The battle for the second place was won by the Polish Agnieszka Jerzyk (winner of the World Games in Rio), who prevail over the French Charlotte MOREL.
For the Men’s competition, Brazilian Reinaldo COLUCCI was untouchable, dominating the race from the start to the end, despite all the efforts made by the others who were behind him trying to catch their bikes as soon as they could finish the running contest. He won the triathlon after 1h48.16, 2nd place is being played in the last 400 meters sprint with a fabulous French Pierre LE CORRE passing on the line Vladimir TURBAEVSKY.
Noticeable were the triple Belgian veteran men and the victory of the American veteran women. Congratulations to all the athletes who gave the best of themselves to wear loud colors of their countries and all showed an excellent spirit.
