Nowadays, the CISM Day Run is the most important event created to celebrate the anniversary of the Council and remind the date of its establishment.
Totally integrated in CISM solidarity principles, this event also intends to contribute to world peace and already became a tradition between CISM-family worldwide. Up to now, 83 member countries have already held at least once the CISM Day Run.

Regardless of physical fitness, sports abilities, social conditions, ranks, gender or age; everybody together, shoulder-to-shoulder, engaged in the principle of sport for all and with one goal only: the world peace.

29 countries returned a offical report and 8 countries answered our inquiry of organization of a CISM Day Run event in 2012 totalizing some 623,177 members of their Armed Forces having participated in multiple events marking the CISM presence in the world. This methodology of count has been followed since 2006, its first year of run. Unfortunately, we did not get to achieve the number of 750,000, participants as was proposed last year. In 2012, Colombia joined the list of our CISM member nations having organized a CISM Day Run. It raised up to 83 the total number of countries which have organized at least one CISM Day Run since the launching of the project in 2006. All hats off for the delegations of Finland, Luxembourg and Pakistan which have organized every year a CISM Day Run event in their countries. Unfortunately, Latvia, which was part of this group, could not organize the event in 2012.
INFO 2012
For the next year, we would like to invite and to estimulate the Armed Forces of the countries that have not organized the event yet to adhere to this project and promote, in their respective countries, sports events to commemorate the CISM Day Run, preferably with media coverage (photos and films), reinforcing the role of sports to the peace movement. To the delegations that had already organized, we would like to ask, please to keep the enthusiasm, performing this extraordinary event again. The CISM General Secretariat staff is confident that even more countries and people will take part in our next edition.
