Republic of Korea delegation to CISM organized CISM DAY RUN in a climate of friendship through sport
to commemorate the birth of the organization.
On the 18th of February 2010, about 500 soldiers celebrated the CISM day by undergoing a 5 km run.

 

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Suriname

CISM Suriname organized for the third year in a row the CISM-Day Run. Three years ago CISM-Suriname started to participate in the CISM-Day Run with about 100 military men. This year 328 persons participated in the run, but now also with civilians runners. Amongst them the 72 years old former director of the Ministry of Finance, who daily runs a distance of 10km.

 

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Slovenia

Slovenian Armed Forces and Slovenian CISM Delegation organized CISM Day Run on 3rd March 2010.
CISM Day Run was organized as a non - competitive event at the same time in all military installations in Slovenia. The main event was organized at Centre for Doctrine, Development, Education and Training Command in Maribor, with opening ceremony, raising of the CISM flag, CISM anthem and opening speech of brigadier Milan Obreza, Chief of Slovenian CISM Delegation. After the Run, press conference was organized.
Altogether 1967 members of Slovenian Armed Forces were running to celebrate Friendship through sport on 3rd of March 2010, which is 18% more than last year.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Morocco

En application des hautes instructions de SA MAJESTÉ LE ROI, Chef Suprême et Chef d’Etat Major Général des Forces Armées Royales, et en commémoration du 62ème ’anniversaire du Conseil International du Sport Militaire, une course de 3 kms a été programmée le 18 février 2010, au niveau de l’ensemble des Places d’Armes du Royaume, au profit de 68 250 militaires (tous grades confondus), avec l’objectif de promouvoir l’idéal ‘‘Sport pour tous’’. L’ensemble des responsables, à tous les niveaux, ont mis en œuvre tous les moyens pour réussir cette manifestation de marque qui revêt un caractère particulier à l’échelon des Forces Armées Royales.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Finland

Finnish Delegation to CISM organized the CISM Day Run events all over the Finland on or close to the 18h February 2010. Almost all garrisons in the Finnish Defence Forces took part in this nice and valuable event. Soldiers and civilians did not run due to the winter time, but they skied on the beautiful skiing tracks of the Finnish clean nature. Unfortunately, we did not collect the information about number of the participants. However, you will find enclosed some nice pictures from the event, which was arranged in the Gulf of Finland Naval Command. In their event 550 conscripts have interesting skiing day in the name of the CISM Day Run.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Romania

Romanian Armed Forces and Romanian CISM Delegation organized CISM Day Run for the fifth year consecutively. Under the LOGO "CISM Day Run", 6 different programs were run in February, more than 7000 participants being involved in these events.
Skiing, volleyball, judo, taekwondo, ski-climbing, running competitions were taken place  and also a “physical education minute” activity (sport for all) was organized on 18 February in all units.
All participants received the CISM Day Run 2010 Certificate!

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Thailand

The CISM Day Run 2010 in Thailand took place on February the 18th, at the installation of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters. The Deputy Chief of the Thai Defence Forces,  Admiral Wallop Kerdphol, presided over the event.
The sports activity started right after the end of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, when 1,800 soldiers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force ran  for peace and to celebrate the 62nd CISM anniversary

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Portugal

The Naval Centre of Physical Education welcomed the 4th edition of this run. More than 769 participants, of the three branches of the Armed Forces and of the National Republic Guard and Police joined for this event and gave a fraternal meeting to the CISM DAY RUN in Portugal. All the participants were wearing white, green, yellow and red t-shirts, (colours the national flag) which gave a colourful note to this event. After the run a lunch was held for all participants. The Director of the Naval Centre of Physical Education, Commander Lopes Pires offered souvenirs to all delegation.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Lebanon

Under the patronage of the Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi represented by the Head of the Central Military Sports Club Brigadier General Hasan Ayoub, The Higher Center for Military Sports organized on the 21st of February 2010 at 8:30 a.m. the International Council Day for Military Sports Race.
746 runners participated in the race and represented the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, the General Directorate of Public Security, the General Directorate of State Security, the Customs, the Fire Brigade, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, in addition to the runners of the Lebanese Army. The Race also included participants from a number of Universities, schools, sports federations, and sports Clubs mainly the American University of Beirut, the Antonine Academy – Baabda, el-Joumhour Club as well as the association of el-Makased el-Islamiya el-Khayriya and the Club "Abra Loubnan" for street runners.
In addition to the Armed Forces Commander Representative, the race was also attended by the Ambassador of Indonesia to Lebanon Mr. Bagas Hapsoro, president of the Lebanese delegation to the CISM Commander of the Higher Center for Military Sports Brigadier General Georges Boutros and a number of Lebanese officers, Internal Security officers, General Security officers, the Fire Brigade and the Lebanese Federation for Track and Field and the relatives of the participants.
The participants were divided to 2 groups, the first group represents the category of juniors and youth (male and female), the second group represented men and women.
Brigadier General Hasan Ayoub, who represented the Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi, gave the start signal for the group of juniors and youth at 8:30 a.m. and for men and women at 8:45 a.m. The race took place under the supervision of officers, NCOs and soldiers of the Higher Center for Military Sports.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in United Arabs Emirates

United Arabs Emirates has organized the 2010 Day Run on the 25th of February in Dubai as a huge Marathon, at 1500hrs.
More than 3000 athletes (military personnel, civilian and disabled persons) took part in this extraordinary event!
The Day Run event has been attended by high authorities in Ministry of Defense, more than 50 high ranks from Generals to young officers, plus civil sport authorities ,school education and media representative,2 UAE MoD undersecretary, Armed Forces, schools, public, male and female, girls and boys different ages, all nationalities, around 40 disabled.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Bulgaria

On 18-th February 2010 in 3-th Airbase “Graff Ignatievo” – Bulgaria was held a running event under the slogan “CISM DAY RUN”. More than 600 people – military personnel from the airbase took part in the activity. All of the participants received t-shirts with the CISM logo and sports awards.
The event was held by Military Sport club “Phoenix”, with chairman – Col. Lalov and deputy chairman captain Georgieva and was attended from Brig. General Stoykov – Commander of the base and Brig. General Radev – Deputy Chief of the Bulgarian Air Forces.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Canada

CISM Canada had approximately 500 participants in CISM Day Run activities throughout the Vancouver, British Columbia area during the week of February 15th 2010. Canadian Forces member's were spread amongst 10 different TAF (Temporary Accommodation Facilities) locations where their PSP (Personnel Support Program) staff organized various events ranging from 3 km walks, 10 km runs and a hike through the trails of Whistler as they bared the CISM flag. With the Olympics taking place during the same time the energy and spirit were high.

The CF members took advantage of the mild west coast weather to participate in the various activities. At the locations due to the positive Olympic atmosphere, members dressed up in every red and  white article of clothing they owned representing Canada strong and proud. This was an excellent opportunity for CF members to show their support for CISM and it’s motto of “Friendship through Sport” while being a part of such a high profile civilian competition such as the Winter Olympics. CISM Day Run at Op Podium was a great success bringing members together from all over Canada to celebrate CISM, sports and peace in the military.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Turkey

Turkish Armed Forces has organized the 2010 Day Run on the 18th of February in the facilities of Gendarmerie Training Command in Ankara, Turkey. There were 550 participants who ran in 3 km middle distance. Many military students, some authorities and The Command of the Gendarmerie Sports Force.Some of our football players, handball players, boxers and cross-country racers also participated in this event.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Brazil

On  21st of February, the Brazilian Armed Forces commemorated the 62th anniversary of  CISM for the second time. Under the patronage of the Ministry of  Defense, through Brazilian Military Sports Commission more than 90,000 people, including military and civilians,  gathered in the major cities of the country as well as in all bases of the Armed Forces in order to show our peaceful spirit and more the readiness to the forthcoming  5th Military World Games, due to be held next year in Rio de Janeiro.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Germany

Neukirchen/Germany, 06. February 2010
Each year in february the Energy Cross Neukirchen is the beginning of the civilian German Cross Cup Championships rounds. As last year the German delegation has organized the 2nd German CISM World Military Cross-Country Challenge Cup in cooperation with the civilian organizers of the Cross Energy. The military teams from Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany were at the start.
As an example of good civil-military cooperation is the established international event perfectly suited to the make known the CISM organization and its motto “Friendship through Sport” in the population and the new generation of internationally cross-civilian teams. For this reason, the Military Cross-Country Challenge Cup was also held as a CISM Day Run.

Kunduz/Afghanistan (ISAF), 18. February 2010
For the first time have participated in this year 58 soldiers from the camp at Kunduz in the CISM Day Run of the International Military Sports Association (Conseil International du Sport Militaire). Under the motto Friendship through sport were runners from four nations at the start of the 1-kilometer circuit through the camp.
In addition to the Belgian, American and German soldiers have participated five Afghan soldiers on the CISM Day Run. After three rounds, each participant received the official CISM Day Run Certificate.

Fontainebleau/France, 18. Februar 2010
Friendship in the spirit of CISM – CISM Day Run at the German Headquarters Group in France.
Every year the Centre National des Sports de la Défense (CNSD) in Fontainebleau
leads on the 18th February a memorial run to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM).
As it has become tradition for several years, members of the German Staff Group in France are invited to participate in this tradition run.
This year's race led from the camp Guynemer on the castle of Fontainebleau, which was formulated in the common memory photo, back to the barracks.
„La Délégation allemande“, as the members of the armed forces are called in Fontainebleau, was received warmly as ever and had to experience once again the German-French friendship at the location Fontainebleau.

18th February on Military services in Germany
The interest in the CISM Day run is growing on the German military services.
On 18th February also was held the CISM Day Run at the German Air Support Command in Münster/DEU and at the Army Office in Cologne/DEU.
Remarkably was, that the soldiers from these units themselves came up with the idea to carry out a CISM Day Run in there unit.
This clearly shows that CISM is more and more known in the German armed forces.
The German delegation support all interested German soldiers with all their possibilities and continues its commitment to ensure that the public image of CISM is still growing.

Totally in our CISM Day Run activities more than one hundred militaries and civilians have participated.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Albania

The Albanian Armed Forces celebrated the 62nd CISM anniversary on the 18 th of February, bringing people together in different military units.

The CISM Day Run was organized by the Albanian Delegation to CISM in a way to show their commitment to the cause of CISM, and promoting "Friendship through sport".

The major event took place in "Mother Tereza" Square, in Tirana where 600 soldiers, NCO-s, officers and civilians were gathered to celebrate this day. The activity started with the ceremony by hoisting the CISM flag and playing the CISM anthem. The Chief of Albanian Delegation Colonel Hysen Cekodhima made a speech explaining the history of CISM and the importance of this day. The ceremony was followed by a cross-country run around the artificial lake in Tirana national park.

Other activities were organized in other military units and the approximate number of the participants in all events was 1500.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Pakistan

Pakistan celebrated the 62nd Anniversary of CISM by holding a ”CISM Day Run” at the Naval Complex at Karachi with great zeal & enthusiasm. More than 400 athletes including officers from all the three services participated.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Cyprus

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus (ASAEF) has organized on 13th February 2010 in the Stavrovouni area, a 10 km cross-country race.

In the aforementioned race, they took part 200 athletes belonging to the National Guard, Police Forces, Reservist Special Forces, British Forces in Cyprus, United Nation (UNFICYP), American and French Embassies and many civilians.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Algeria

Dans le cadre de l’organisation de la journée  du cross "Amitié par le Sport" par la délégation Algérienne auprès du CISM, le 18 février 2010, commémorant la date de création du Conseil International du Sport Militaire, cette activité a connu une forte participation des militaires, toutes catégories confondues, au niveau de toutes unités et structures des Forces Armées Algériennes, avec un nombre total de deux cent mille (200 000) coureurs.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Philippines

This year Philippines transformed CISM Day Run in a special event named “Run for your heart”, which took place on 14th of February and where 12,000 runners from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, PNP and other agencies participated in.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Latvia

Soldiers of Latvian National Armed Forces celebrated CISM Day run on 19th of February.
The same as it was last year, Sport Club of National Armed Forces of Latvia organized Skiing Championship together with the CISM Day Run.
This year there were 101 participants from 16 military units.
There were also 2 units who organized CISM Day Run in their units. So, together there were 18 units and 151 military personnel from Latvia
who participated in CISM Day Run this year.
Participants were not so many due to a lot of snow and cold weather.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Jamaica

Jamaica held a 1000 man CISM Day Run on the 20 Feb 2010. Over 1000 persons have participated comprising members of the Armed Forces, Jamaican police, and cadets. At the end of the run, a number of civilians from the inner city communities were invited to participate with the soldiers in football, netball and volleyball.  The CISM Day Run certificate was taken from the CISM website and a copy presented to each participant in the day's activities. This was a very successful CISM Day Run for Jamaica.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Tanzania

Tanzania celebrated the 62nd CISM anniversary on the 18th of February, bringing people together in different military units.
The CISM Day Run was organized by the Tanzanian Delegation to CISM in a way to show their commitment to the cause of CISM, and promoting "Friendship through sport".
The major event took place in at the Ministry of Defense and National Services grounds where 400 soldiers, NCO-s, officers and civilians and children from the Open the Gates Project were gathered to celebrate this day. The activity started with the ceremony by hoisting the CISM flag and playing the CISM anthem as well as the National anthem and flag.
Tanzania Chief of Delegation to CISM, Colonel SS BUSUNGU made a speech explaining the history as well as the membership of Tanzania to CISM and the importance of this day. The ceremony was followed by a 5KM run and Aerobic Exercises. Thereafter, all the participants were given the certificates of participation by the guest-chief Major General Makakala in charge of SPD Branch.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Peru

On the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of the International Military Sports, Sports Federation Military del Peru (FEDEMILPE) headed by its President, Colonel EP Jorge Celiz KUONG, carried out the 2nd edition of Career Motivation for the 62nd Anniversary of CISM, which was held on February 18, 2010 at the premises of Education and Doctrine Command of the Army and was attended by 500 athletes from the Navy, the Air Force and the Peruvian Army.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in France

10 000 people from the French army, navy and air forces have participated to the 62th CISM anniversary. CISM was created in 1948 in France and the 1st CISM president was the colonel Henri DEBRUS. The principal activities for the CISM Day Run in France were cross country and team sports tournaments.
Inside the Defense National Sports Center on 18th of February, people from the military sports barracks, the horse centre barracks and the gendarmerie school celebrate the creation of the CISM. They gather in the streets of Fontainebleau to cross the town and to make a picture in front of the castle of Fontainebleau.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Belgium

CISM DAY RUN was organized this year by the sport section of ACOS O&T in Tervuren.
There have been 4 possibilities:
Walk over 8 km : +/- 150 participants
Ladies run 6 km: 100 participants
Run over 6 / 10 km: 1100 participants
In total - approximately 1350 walkers / runners.
CISM HQ has been invited and joined this annual meeting, Col. Morisod (SG of CISM) and his team being part of this extraordinary event.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in South Africa

The South African National Defence Force as a member of the International Military Sport Council (CISM) commemorated this day by organizing games within the regions.  The following regions were involved in the day which was a huge success.

Gauteng Region

a) Individual units in the Gauteng region (North and South) participated in the CISM Day Run which run concurrently with the Annual Summer Sport day on the 19th March 2010.

b) The sport codes were, Angling, Badminton, Blackball (Pool), Bowls, Chess, Cycling, Golf, Jukskei, Marathon, Martial Arts, Netball, Pistol/Practical Shooting, Soccer, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch Rugby, Volleyball and Walking.

c) All the winners were awarded certificate for participation by Brig Gen A. P. Sedibe (Chief Delegate South Africa).

North West Region

a) Three hundred (300) individual members within the North West region (Potchefstroom) participated in the CISM Day Run on the 19th February 2010 in the peaceful 5km walk.

b) Participants were invited to join hands and enjoy the refreshments.

c) Members from the public also participated in the walk which became a mass participation.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Afghanistan

Kunduz/Afghanistan (ISAF), 18. February 2010

For the first time, Afghanistan soldiers from the camp at Kunduz have participated this year in the CISM Day Run of the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Under the motto Friendship through sport runners from four nations were at the start of the 1-kilometer circuit through the camp.
In addition to the Belgian, American and German, five Afghan soldiers have participated on the CISM Day Run. After three rounds, each participant received the official CISM Day Run Certificate.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Belarus

Belarus Armed Forces as well as many other nations takes part in the carrying out CISM Run Day.

This event is becoming a tradition in Belarus which successfully influences not only the development of Military sport in our country but has an international impact on CISM image and World sports in general.
  
This year the Day Run collected about 12.000 participants.  The event took place on the Defense Ministry's sports base (ski events) and in military unites on the 24th of February 2010. Militaries and civilians checked their sports skills in the distance of 1 000m and 3000m.

Chairmen of Sport Committee of Belarus Armed Forces and some other local authorities attended the event together with numerous spectators. This event is just a small part of a great fruitful activity for the benefit of Military Sports.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Bosnia

For the first time, Bosnia Herzegovina has organized CISM Day Run in a small city Čapljina on the south part of the country. Approximately 400 athletes from different units have been participated in this unique manifestation.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Norway

Norway organized the CISM Day Run event in Oslo - 10 February 2010. It was a good show with many great and eager people who wanted to participate in this ski day. Around 400 people showed up, 300 attended in the 10km skiing. In addition, 52 teams competed in the biathlon relay.
This wasn’t an event only for the best, or an event where you could compete, but an activity to motivate people to exercise.



 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Mauritania

Mauritania celebrated the 62nd CISM anniversary on the 18th of February, bringing people together in different military units. The CISM Day Run was organized by the Mauritanian Delegation to CISM in a way to show their commitment to the cause of CISM, and promoting "Friendship through sport".
More than 5000 participants have participated in this extraordinary event.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Barbados

The Barbados CISM Delegation conducted its CISM Day activity on Sunday, 28 February 2010. The CISM 5K Run/Walk attracted approximately 230 participants  from the Barbados Regiment Regular and Reserve troops, the Barbados Coast Guard and the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme and included one civilian. Participants were encouraged to wear their Red T-shirts as this occasion was also used as an opportunity for HIV Awareness. The Head of Barbados CISM Delegation, Commander David Dowridge presided over the event. Certificates of participation were issued to the Units represented.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Czech Republic

Another CISM DAY RUN was organised on 20 May 2010 in conjunction with the championship of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic in the beautiful environment of the Přední Kopanina – Svatá Juliána forest park. As a matter of tradition every year, the competition saw a high attendance of Czech military professionals and defence civilians who regularly take part in the ACR runner league and in other open contests. The track was well arranged but had a challenging profile.
Total number of participants: 485

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Luxembourg

In Luxembourg, CISM Day Run took place at Diekirch Barracks on the 05th of October 2010.

203 runners participated in this traditional event. Luxembourg has been organizing Day Run every year starting with the first edition in 2006.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Lesotho

In Lesotho, CISM Day Run took place for the third time consecutively with the participation of 300 soldiers and 50 officers, in total 350 participants.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Uganda

The total number of participants in 2010 CISM DAY RUN Uganda was 4000 and the function took place on 18/02/2010 at Land Forces HQs Bombo and the chief guest or runner was Brig Gen Hussein Adah, the commandant of Land Forces Hqs. The chief of Uganda CISM delegation COL JW Byarugaba is the one who flagged of the run and their after  addressed the participants about the history of CISM day run and why soldiers run for PEACE every year worldwide. He also highlighted the meaning of CISM motto of FRIENDSHIP THROUGH SPORTS as part of his speech.

The Uganda peoples Defense forces (UPDF) through its CISM delegation highly recognizes this day. Similar runs were also organized at different formations like UPDF Divisions Hqs, Bde Hqs and independent units like Air forces, Marines, Air Defense and the Chieftaincy of Rehabilitation Center for our war injured comrades who also engaged in different sports disciplines.

 
CISM Day Run 2010 in Russia

In Russia, in 2010, CISM Day Run was held with 12 000 participants. We hope that next year, even more runners to take part in this extraordinary event, promoting Friendship through Sport and celebrating CISM anniversary and the Peace Games.
