The first CISM ASIA meeting shows the way

MANAMA, KINGDOM OF BARHAIN - Under the impulse by the President CISM Asia, Lt-Colonel Hakim Alsheeno, the Bahrain Delegation organized the first CISM Asian meeting in the capital city of Manaba. Not less than 22 CISM Asian Member Nations had answered the call of the young but dynamic new President CISM Asia. the CISM President, Col. Kalkaba, Secretary general, Col. Morisod and HQ executive Manager, Mr Verhelle took part in that interesting meeting. It is worth mentioning that most participants in that extraordinary gathering did actually meet each others for the very first time. For many years, the CISM Asian continent has been facing several difficulties to structure and organize its continental activities. The width of the continent and the large variety of cultures, religions and languages have always been some breaks to unify a continental policy.

This meeting has certainly helped a lot in gathering the representatives of the CISM Asian Member Nations to discuss about several topics such as the internal communication, the common calendar of activities at regional, continental and world levels, the ways to increase the Asian contribution to the main CISM ideal, etc. all countries expressed their satisfaction and readiness to organize several continental meeting more often outside the frame of the CISM General Assemblies.

In their respective addresses, the CISM President and Secretary General insisted on the need for the Asian continent to play a more important role in the CISM activities. But the presence in Bahrain was also the right opportunity for our representatives to meet the highest national authorities, both military, the Chief of General staff of the BDF (Bahrain Defence Forces), but also his Royal Highness Shaik Nasser bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Olympic Committee of Bahrain. The coming General Assembly in Seoul shall certainly confirm all the goodwill and commitments taken by the Asian continent.
