Due to the fact that on the one hand, the CISM Headquarters are located in Brussels, and on the other hand, for many years, the Armed Forces of Belgium have been availing skilled personnel in the different CISM commissions and some highly qualified members at the CISM staff, Colonel Alexandre Morisod, CISM Secretary General, has since the very beginning of its mandate, developped very good and permanent relationships with the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Belgium. On Friday 24 June, the CISM Secretary General organized for the new CISM President, Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum an audience with the Minister of Defense of Belgium, Mr Peter De Crem. The Minister was accompanied by his chief of Cabinet, Mr Ludwig Van Der Veken and with Lt-General (Air Force) François Florkin, Director of Material, Resources and Budget. . During this audience in a friendly atmosphere, the CISM President and the Secretary General reaffirmed the CISM willingness to consider Belgium as its host country and asked the Belgian Government for more support by delegating some more personnel at the HQ and above all to help CISM to obtain a statute as international organization in Belgium. H.E. Peter De Crem repeated the high consideration given by the Government of Belgium to the CISM ideals and activities and committed himself to create the favorable conditions to help CISM in fulfilling its mission.
The CISM President declared himself extremely satisfied and happy to see the good continuity in the relationships between CISM and Belgium. |
