| IAAF President Lamine Diack and CISM President and IAAF Council Member Hamad Kalkaba Malboum in Monaco (Philippe Fitte) |
Monaco - The IAAF and the International Military Sports Council (CISM) announced an agreement on Monday (23) aimed to establish the development of genuine cooperation between the two international sport organisations.
At a meeting in Monaco, IAAF President Lamine Diack and CISM President and IAAF Council Member Hamad Kalkaba Malboum signed a four-year Convention of Collaboration whose goals include, among others, the promotion and development of athletics in the military at both the amateur and professional levels and to further encourage the development and participation of women's sport in the military.
The Convention underscores the mutual interests of both organisations, and as such the agreement calls for actions to be implemented that harmonise the development strategies of both the IAAF and CISM.
The IAAF will assist the CISM by providing, educational, technical and training expertise to their partners in the project. Training programmes and courses for coaches, referees and judges will be established at regional training centres either through the provision of a training supervisor or through teaching materials. The organisations will also collaborate in the organising of seminars during CISM competitions.
