WELCOME

Let me welcome you on behalf of the International Military Sports Council —better known as CISM— to our organisation’s website.

This website is designed to allow you quick and easy access to information regarding the roughly one hundred events we organise worldwide every year. We invite you to discover the history of CISM since its foundation in 1948, its 131 Member Nations as well as the various bodies that have allowed it to become one of the largest international multisports federations, acknowledged by all major sporting, political and institutional authorities worldwide.


The aim of this website is also to allow you to keep track day by day of all the competitions and international events on our yearly programme. The Military World Games, military world championships, continental and regional events are part of the everyday life that we would like to share with you. You will get to know our great champions—and there are countless on the foreground of the international sporting scene.

As you read the many pages of this site, you will come to see that sport is truly our number one activity and that it is practised at the highest level while sparing no effort in the promotion of physical activities for all in the Armed Forces. And you will also discover that friendship, fair-play, solidarity and tolerance are the true seeds of the world’s largest gathering of Armed Forces working together for the emergence of world peace: CISM.

All members of CISM—who honoured me greatly when they elected me President in 1998 and again when they re-elected me in 2002—enthusiastically produce titanic work every day to allow millions of soldiers and officers, among whom a great many youngsters, to live a healthier life, to develop their physical qualities and to contribute tangibly to the edification of a world in which justice, solidarity and peace prevail.

I am very proud of presiding over such a wonderful organisation as CISM. I now invite you to share in my pride.
