The President of CISM is accountable to the General Assembly.
His authorities and responsibilities are :
He leads and manages the CISM organization in accordance with its regulations, he chairs the Congress and General Assembly, he presents an annual report to the General Assembly, he chairs the Board of Directors and the Emergency Board, he chairs the Council of the Meritorious Order of CISM, he develops all relationships necessary for the proper functioning and influence of CISM with other international organizations, he communicates with Chiefs of Staff of member nations in cases related to extreme lack of discipline.

Dr. Gianni GOLA

Born in 1946, Major General Gianni Gola (
Italy) was elected President of CISM for the first time at the General Assembly of Baden-Vienna(AUT) in 1998. Then he was re-elected other two times, in 2002 and 2006. His mandate will end in 2010 after 12 years of continued Presidency. Gen GOLA is also member of the International Olympic Truce Foundation and the IOC’s Sport for All Commission.
He was President of the Italian Track and Field Federation (1989 -2004), Council member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (2001-2003) and of the Italian National Olympic Committee (1989-2004).He began his sports career as military Hammer-throw athlete of the Italian national team and was the Juniors Record-holder (1965). |
