The Congress is the annual meeting of delegations of member nations immediately preceding the General Assembly. The Congress is dedicated to strategic and business planning, discussions and debates, presentations and exchange of information.


The 1^st CISM Congress took part on May 6-7, 2002, in Opatija, Croatia. Two outstanding speakers have opened this première. The President of the IOC, Docteur Jacques Rogge made a video allocution at the opening of this 1^st Congress. Mister Adolf Ogi, Special Adviser of the United Nations Secretary General for the sports at the service of development and peace, Mr Koffie Annan, has addressed to the audience a interesting speech emphasizing the need for a long term cooperation in between United Nations and CISM.. The Congress is the ideal agora for all the members of CISM family to take the floor, to exchange ideas and to set up projects within our organisation as well as with other institutions or sports federations. It is the most efficient and democratic tool in the frame of the development of CISM activities.
