olf is the latest addition to CISM's programme of international events. It officially became a Category 1 sport following a vote by the General Assembly held in Opatija, Croatia, in May 2002, based on a decision taken by the Board of Directors in Bridgetown, Barbados, in December 2001. The USA never hesitated and offered to host the first world military golf championship in Fort Hood in 2003. The emergence of golf as a military sport in recent years augurs well of the level of performance that can be expected next year. The Technical Committee was set up during the European military championship and regulations have just recently been adopted. Everything seems to be falling nicely in place to allow our best golf players to contend on the American links. Let us wish the very best for a new discipline that can but put our organisation in a swinging mood!
