Today, the 18th of April, is the 10th anniversary of my election as President of the International Military Sports Council.
I can still remember the great emotion I felt when, at the end of the General Assembly of Baden (Vienna), my predecessor General Arthur Zechner handed me over the Presidency.
It has been a long and intense period for CISM, which, like many other international organisations, has significantly grown and developed. Especially this year, while celebrating the 60th Anniversary, Military Sport keeps performing a paramount international role, by giving life to many initiatives and expanding more and more its mission, from sport to friendship, from peace-keeping to solidarity.
For me it has been, and it still is, a great privilege to lead this Organization and carrying out my role with the same enthusiasm as when I begun this adventure and it is a pleasure, to witness how many members of our organisation dedicate their efforts and passion for the development of CISM and military sport.
I often think that the decision I took ten years ago, to place both my long experience as sports manager and my skills at disposal of CISM, was a good one, worth to be taken.
I celebrate this particular date of my 10 years of Presidency with great joy and satisfaction. I express my deepest gratitude for your appreciation, consideration and for the consent I received during these years.
Long life to CISM!
Respectfully.
The President
B. Gen. Dr. Gianni GOLA
